(About us)
M–BALANCE® is a biotechnology company developing an end-to-end technology platform for standardized analysis of the human microbiome.
Our integrated solution brings together three components: reagents for sample preparation and sequencing, a software platform for automated metagenomic data analysis, and a digital biobank of clinically characterized samples.
Quality is controlled at every stage—from sample collection to report generation—ensuring reproducible results that can be compared across studies.
How the M–BALANCE® protocol works
Designed for high-throughput labs, the protocol follows a clear, standardized workflow with objective quality criteria at every step.
Reagents.
IT platform
Reagents include complimentary access to the platform.
Automated end-to-end data analysis—from raw data upload to a finished PDF report.
Access to a digital biobank of 3,000+ clinically characterized samples for reference and comparison.
Key reagents have serial numbers. Enter a serial number on the platform and your lab receives data-processing capacity matched to your purchase.
Two report formats: individual patient reports for clinics and cohort reports for research centers.
Sample reports:
Clinical report
Full taxonomy down to species level; 24 metabolic potential markers; 12 derived indices; associations with 16 conditions; nutrition recommendations.
National medical research center report
Explore microbiome correlations with clinical indicators, compare cohorts with healthy biobank samples, and build a “digital model” as a virtual control group.
Who it’s for.
M–BALANCE® — The industry-wide standard
Commercial laboratories
Launch a turnkey microbiome test with low per-sample costs and a competitive edge. Around RUB 4,000–4,500 per sample, including the full reagent set, with no in-house R&D required.
Genomics centers
A single reproducible protocol and fully automated analysis mean less manual work per project, higher throughput, and lower costs.
Clinics and medical centers
Add an innovative metagenomic microbiome test to your portfolio. Deliver ready-to-use PDF reports through a partner lab using M-Balance reagents.
Research institutes and national medical research centers
Standardization improves the reliability of findings and makes data comparable across studies. Build a foundation for datasets, publications, and grants—without an in-house bioinformatics team.

Why M–BALANCE
End-to-end quality control
Objective metrics at every stage and an OK index that filters out false positives.
Instrument-agnostic
Reproducible results on any third-generation sequencer, with no dependence on a specific platform.
Transparent economics
RUB 3,500–4,500 per sample, including the full reagent set and free access to the IT platform.
Fully developed and manufactured in Russia, with a path to coverage under the national compulsory health insurance system.
Science first.
Sequencing reveals the composition of microbial communities. Standardization makes results comparable.
The microbiome is a universal marker.
It is connected to every organ system; over 40,000 publications a year, with the total doubling every five years.
Existing methods fall short
Culture tests identify no more than 10% of species; PCR panels such as “Colonoflor” cover around 20 markers among thousands of species; indirect methods such as GC-MS are not scientifically sound.
NGS
The only recognized method for studying the microbiome, according to a consensus of 67 experts published in The Lancet: high-throughput sequencing, using Shotgun or 16S approaches.
WHO (October 2025)
The need to standardize microbiome analysis for medical use is explicitly stated.
Market and regulation
In 2026, microbiome analysis was added to Russia’s national health insurance programme—an opportunity to enter the market early.

(FAQs)
FAQ.

We value transparency. If you haven't found an answer, please leave a request, and we'll discuss it over a short call.
How is M-Balance different from PCR and culture testing?
We sequence the full 16S rRNA gene to identify bacteria at the species level. PCR looks for predefined markers, while culture depends on growth conditions. M-Balance combines next-generation sequencing with standardized quality control.
